Packaging Contribution

Waste Management Contribution The Netherlands
As a producer and importer, Van Oordt is legally obliged to take responsibility for the prevention, collection and reuse of used packaging materials. This is laid down in the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive and the Packaging, Paper and Cardboard Management Decree of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. Van Oordt is individually responsible for this.

Packaging Waste Fund (Afvalfonds Verpakkingen)
Van Oordt has registered with the Packaging Waste Fund. This fund has taken on the collection and reuse obligation from us. Van Oordt pays a Packaging Waste Management Contribution for this. Dutch companies must reuse more packaging material and make the packaging chain more sustainable. These agreements are laid down in the Framework Agreement on Packaging 2013-2022. The Packaging Waste Fund implements these agreements collectively on behalf of the packaging industry. You can read how we do this in the Waste Management Contribution Agreement (ABBO) and in the Packaging Waste Fund Policy 2013.

Packaging Contribution Belgium
All companies that put packaged products on the Belgian market, including Elite, are subject to the so-called take-back obligation. This means that they are legally responsible for the sustainable processing of the packaging after the consumption of the products. In practice, they can join Fost Plus to accomplish, as it would be very difficult to organise it themselves. Fost Plus is an organisation that promotes, coordinates and finances the selective collection, sorting and recycling of household packaging waste in Belgium.

Elite is affiliated with Fost Plus, which means that we provide the Green Dot logo on our packaging. The Green Dot logo on packaging indicates that we, as the sales office that markets the packaged product, pay a contribution to Fost Plus for selective collection, sorting and recycling of household packaging. The contribution is based on the amount and type of packaging that we put on the market.

The Green Dot logo does not mean that the packaging consists of recycled materials, or that you may collect the packaging in the blue PMD bag.

Fost Plus uses these financial resources to process the packaging in the most sustainable way. Currently, almost 90% of the packaging declared to Fost Plus is recycled.
