Van Oordt traditionally specialised in portion packaging for professional (food service) customers. We have seen a development towards ever smaller packaging units, both for professional users and for home use. Van Oordt is keen to meet this demand. We make sugar and creamer sticks in small boxes, which are available in supermarkets, for example. Van Oordt's VarieJantjes are also a good example: small boxes with 12 portion packs of spreads.
Van Oordt does not deliver to private individuals. Please contact your nearest wholesaler for our standard range. If the product you want is not available through your wholesaler, please contact our Customer Service. We will be happy to help you find a suitable solution!
The use of portion packs provides a number of important advantages and savings, also in the context of sustainable business. According to regulations, food in dishes may only remain uncovered for a limited time and the contents must be refreshed within a certain time. This means a lot of waste; something that can be prevented by using portion packs. In addition, when serving from dishes, energy, water and dishwashing product are needed for cleaning. Portion packaging further reduces the risk of product waste due to the perfect serving size and due to a reduced chances of spillage and spoilage.
Van Oordt follows developments in the field of biodegradable packaging materials and packaging materials from renewable sources. We offer biodegradable packaging material for our sugar sticks. This relates to the PE layer on the inside of the packaging. An additional advantage is that it comes from renewable sources. On the other hand, Van Oordt takes a critical look at the origin, use and application of packaging material. 80% of our cardboard purchase is based on recycled material.

Products
That differs per product. Detailed information about allergens and ingredients are available on the PS in Foodservice online database. You will find all essential information about a product on the relevant product page.
A phenomenon called 'fat bloom' can occur with chocolate products (especially dark chocolate). Particularly in warm weather conditions and high humidity during and after the summer period. This phenomenon has to do with fat crystals (the fats in the chocolate) that recrystallise under the influence of temperature fluctuations (mainly at higher temperatures/humidity and subsequently cooling). This can cause a 'white powdery residue' on the outside that affects the colour and appearance of the product. However, the phenomenon has no adverse effects on the taste and smell.
Inherent in the properties of dry substances, such as creamer and sugar with a crystal, powder and/or agglomerate structure, is that these substances attract moisture. This is also known as hygroscopy. These properties in combination with large fluctuations in temperature and/or humidity can have a very negative influence on the granular (free-flowing) properties or result in the product becoming completely hard.
These free-flowing properties are still fully present during and after the production process. After all, the products would not be able to be packaged otherwise. Under normal storage conditions, the packaging material (paper with a PE layer) also has sufficient barrier properties, so that the product remains free-flowing within the set best before date. During external transport and storage at the distribution centre, we ensure that the temperature does not fluctuate too much by storing in well-insulated (external) storage warehouses. In other words, the product is stored at room temperature and certainly not much colder or warmer.
In order to prevent the occurrence of portion packs that have hardened (especially in the case of creamer), it is therefore of great importance that Van Oordt products are stored at room temperature during the follow-up process. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity should be avoided.
In honey, 'saccharification' is a phenomenon that often occurs in practice and is inherent in the properties of honey, because it contains glucose as one of its main components. Particularly in cold storage conditions (e.g. during the winter period in storage warehouses), saccharification of honey will occur more quickly. 'Saccharification' can ensure that a solid layer of sugar is created, which then influences the colour and fluidity of the product. As soon as the product warms up slightly (not in the microwave and up to max. 40°C), the honey will regain its original liquid properties. Incidentally, the phenomenon has no further adverse consequences for taste or smell.
You will find ingredients per product in the product descriptions on the website.
